The Gothic Funeral Setting

• The characters (Osric, Calliope, and Don) awakened in a dense forest in front of a large, somber Gothic building
• Inside, they discovered four coffins containing their friends: Nelyse, Voghan, Volteran, and Willow
• The setting depicted a grim reality where the friends had succumbed to "Specter’s Decay," a rotting disease
  • Volterran’s body was described as severely decayed, with a red eye falling from its socket
  • Neylse appeared almost entirely as a skeleton with matted hair and missing tusks
  • Willow was decorated with flowers, though her face was half-decayed

Emotional Conflict and Denial

• The characters struggled with the realism of the dream, particularly Osric, who remained in heavy denial
• Osric confronted an NPC named Niall (Osric), accusing him of playing sick games and refusing to accept the deaths
• Calliope attempted to pay respects by fixing Willow’s hair and speaking to the bodies
• A moment of horror occurred when one of the corpses (Melise) appeared to sit up and speak, accusing the survivors of leaving her to rot

The Great Tree and the Wasteland

• The group discovered a massive tree with an intense aura and an orange glow behind its bark
• After transitioning through a "door" in the tree, the setting shifted to a hellish wasteland of rock and lava pits
• The characters were forced to fight distorted, undead versions of their fallen friends
  • Osric used Divine Smite to strike a clay-like creature that transformed into his father and then Voghan
  • Calliope was eventually skewered by the malicious tree as the dream reached its peak intensity
  • Osric then was painfully ripped apart by his fallen friends.
  • Belladonna realized they were in a nightmare and the session ended.
